England’s John Parry claimed his first DP World Tour title in 14 years, winning the Mauritius Open with a superb final-round 64. Parry commenced his final round five shots behind the leader. The Mauritius Open final leaderboard displayed: -14 J Parry (Eng); -12 D Naidoo (SA) Christo Lamprecht (SA); -11 J Rebula (SA); -10 A Halvorsen (Den) F Schott (Ger) R Sterne (SA) C Burke (SA). Despite starting his last round five shots adrift, Parry’s performance included seven birdies and an eagle, culminating in a total score of 14 under. This placed him two strokes ahead of the South African pair, Dylan Naidoo and Christo Lamprecht. For the 38-year-old golfer, this marked his initial tour victory since triumphing at the Vivendi Cup in Sweden back in 2010. Parry’s return to the DP World Tour was facilitated by three wins on the 2024 Challenge Tour. However, he disclosed that he had contemplated leaving golf during his tenure on the third-tier EuroPro Tour. When questioned by Sky Sports about the significance of his Mauritius victory, Parry, who had also secured a joint-second place at the Alfred Dunhill Championship the previous week, stated: “It’s massive.” He further elaborated, “I don’t know how long ago, maybe five or six years ago when I was back on the EuroPro… I was close to giving up golf. “It’s been a long battle back but worth every moment for this week.””
