A South Yorkshire Police officer, accused of sexually assaulting a boy aged 10 or 11, is scheduled for a retrial after the jury in the initial proceedings could not reach a verdict. Police Constable Gary Scott was tried at Sheffield Crown Court on three charges of indecent assault. These alleged incidents are said to have occurred between 2001 and 2003, prior to his enlistment in the police force. PC Scott, a resident of Balby, Doncaster, who served as a response officer in Rotherham, was taken into custody last September. This followed a report made to the force’s Professional Standards Department. Subsequently, he entered a plea of not guilty to all accusations. On December 11, at Sheffield Crown Court, the jury was dismissed, and a new trial date was set for February 9, 2026. PC Scott has been suspended from his duties and is currently subject to an internal misconduct investigation.
