The location of a previously well-known social club in Birmingham is scheduled for auction, with an initial bid set at £1.22 million. According to auctioneer Bond Wolfe, the former Ivy Leaf social club, situated in Sheldon, had received planning approval for its demolition and subsequent redevelopment into a three-story building comprising 50 apartments. Bond Wolfe further indicated that while approval was granted for the apartments and a retail unit on the ground floor, the site also presented opportunities for different uses, provided that new planning consent could be obtained. The property, previously known as the Ivy Leaf, is slated to be put up for sale at a live-streamed auction on December 11, unless a sale is finalized prior to the event, as stated by Bond Wolfe. The site, located on A45 Coventry Road, offers “easy access” to Birmingham Airport “and train station and the national motorway network at junction 6 of the M42”. Birmingham Live previously reported that the war memorial associated with the former social club is designated for preservation. Follow BBC Birmingham on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X and Instagram.
