South Western Railway (SWR) has announced that military personnel and veterans are eligible for complimentary train travel when attending Remembrance Sunday events. According to SWR, individuals presenting identification or traveling in uniform qualify for this initiative, which is financially supported by the Department for Transport. The train operator specified that this offer extends nationwide and will also be accessible to volunteers participating in London Poppy Day events scheduled for Thursday. Peter Williams, SWR’s customer and commercial director, noted that numerous colleagues possess a “proud background in the armed forces”. Mr Williams stated, “Remembrance Sunday is an important opportunity for people across the country to reflect on the sacrifices made by generations of service personnel.” He added, “Alongside the rest of the railway industry, we are pleased to honour this sacrifice by offering free travel to active personnel and veterans attending Remembrance Sunday and London Poppy Day events.” Post navigation Reintroduction of ID Cards for Channel Island Travel A3 to Close for Weekend in January for Pedestrian Bridge Installation
