Police have confirmed the death of a woman following a two-vehicle collision in Plymouth. Devon and Cornwall Police reported that officers were dispatched to Ham Drive at approximately 17:20 GMT on Tuesday, after a crash involving a grey Audi and a silver Ford Fiesta. The driver of the Ford, a woman in her 60s from Plymouth, was subsequently pronounced dead. A man in his 30s, also from Plymouth, has been taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries after the incident, and the road was closed to allow for an investigation at the scene. Insp Jane Corkhill, who leads the Serious Collisions Investigation Team, stated: “We are deeply saddened that a lady has lost her life in yet another fatal road traffic collision on our Devon and Cornwall’s roads.” She added: “Our thoughts are very much with the victim and her family at this terribly tragic time and they will be supported by specially trained officers throughout the investigation.” For further updates, BBC Devon can be followed on X, Facebook, and Instagram.
