A group of five individuals was successfully extracted from the roof of their vehicle after it became immobilized by the rising tide. Emergency services, including rescuers and paramedics, responded to the Holy Island causeway shortly after 15:00 GMT on Monday. The party was transported to the shore, where an ambulance was on standby. No injuries were reported among those rescued. The Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team indicated that this incident marked their second deployment to the causeway within a span of nearly 24 hours. A team spokesperson stated: “Across both days we experienced tides in excess of five metres.” The spokesperson further elaborated that “These tides were deep enough at high tide to almost completely submerge both vehicles.”
