Gareth Ainsworth, the former head coach of Queens Park Rangers, has taken on a new role. He had previously been working as a commentator. Ainsworth was dismissed by the Rs last October. This decision followed a period of nine Championship matches without a victory, which left the team six points away from safety. The 51-year-old had been appointed in February, having previously spent 11 years at Wycombe. During his tenure, Ainsworth secured only five wins from 28 games. His time concluded with the Rs losing six consecutive matches, placing them in 22nd position with only eight points from 14 games at the beginning of last season. On Wednesday afternoon, Ainsworth, who has been involved in media work, was announced as the new manager for Shrewsbury, a club currently at the bottom of League One. Salop had been seeking a replacement for Paul Hurst, whose second term as head coach concluded last week after only seven months.
