A man characterized as “highly dangerous,” Michael Scrase, has been imprisoned following convictions for a series of rapes and other sexual offenses, having targeted young vulnerable girls. Scrase was found guilty of 21 charges, which included 14 counts of rape, five counts of sexual assault, and two counts of child abuse. The 45-year-old, from Whitchurch in Shropshire, committed these offenses at some point between 2014 and 2021, according to West Mercia Police. During a hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday, Scrase received a sentence of 28 years in prison, along with an additional four years on licence upon his release. Detective Constable Julia Warren, who led the investigation, stated: “Scrase is a highly dangerous individual who preyed on young vulnerable girls.” She further commented: “We welcome the sentence given by the judge, but no sentence can ever take away the lifelong trauma he caused his victims.” Det Con Warren commended the bravery of the girls for reporting the offenses and for their courage demonstrated throughout the trial.
