Residences throughout the West Midlands have been converted into elaborate Halloween displays, featuring elements such as “vomiting workmen” and “glowing pumpkins.” In Longbridge, Birmingham, Jodie Fisher’s home is adorned with ghosts, skeletons, and numerous other ghoulish figures, serving the purpose of collecting funds for charity. The mother of six children indicated an anticipation of over 100 visitors, with her eerie decorations benefiting Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The family has leveraged ongoing renovations at her Hewell Close home to incorporate additional unsettling elements into the decor. The Halloween enthusiast stated, “The kids think I’m a witch,” adding, “I like my healing crystals and I’ve had spooky things happen.” She further mentioned, “I’ll be wearing my purple cloak and dressing up as a witch, obviously.” Ms Fisher has organized this display for the last three years, constructing much of the elaborate setup herself alongside her children. Her mother, Ingrid, residing three houses away, participated by wearing a frightening nun costume. The previous year, the exhibit drew over 100 attendees. Ms Fisher commented, “I’m expecting a lot more this year,” and added, “We’ve got a cauldron full of sweeties.” She indicated that her Halloween lights would be activated around 16:30 GMT, and she would encourage visitors to contemplate contributing to the children’s charity. Brandon House care home in Coventry is similarly embracing a spooky theme for its Halloween celebration. Spiders were fabricated there using expanding foam, paint, and swimming gear. A structure previously utilized for visitors during the Covid pandemic has been transformed into a witch’s lair, complete with mystical music, a cauldron, a fireplace, and the audio of screaming cats. These decorations are slated to be part of a trick-or-treat gathering for the local community, scheduled for Thursday evening. Anthony Jackson in Shropshire is utilizing his eerie exhibit to collect funds for Bowel Cancer UK, following the death of a close family friend due to the illness. His array of skeletons, located in Craven Arms, has drawn hundreds of people. The 49-year-old stated, “We’ve had nothing but positivity to be honest.” He continued, “Everyone thinks it’s wonderful – people want to know what they can do to help and they’re amazed at how much time we’ve spent doing it.” He further mentioned that the residence had already accumulated approximately £300.
