Tottenham forward Hayley Raso has stated that her move to the north London club was motivated by a desire to gain “confidence” and attain “consistency”. The Australia international, who previously played in the Women’s Super League for Everton and Manchester City, became a free agent following her departure from Real Madrid at the conclusion of the previous season. Raso indicated that she was “open” to relocating anywhere after departing Spain, but ultimately chose the path “that was right for me and my career at this point”. After discussions with Spurs and manager Robert Vilahamn, Raso affirmed that she had no reservations about joining the team. In an interview with BBC London, she stated: “I really liked what they had to say, how they spoke to me, and how they saw me fitting into the team. “After speaking with them, it was an easy decision to come here. I feel very supported, and I’ve got a lot of confidence being here. It was a great decision.” The 30-year-old player found the net on her Spurs debut against Crystal Palace; however, she subsequently sustained a hamstring injury, though she now declares herself “ready” to return. She further commented: “We’re an ambitious team, and we want to have a strong season by getting as many points as possible, keeping clean sheets, scoring goals, and moving up the table,” adding, “On a personal level, I want to contribute as much as I can with goals, assists, and just being my confident self on the pitch.” Regarding manager Robert Vilahamn, Raso remarked: “Robert has such a calming nature – he’s very level-headed, which brings calmness to us. He’s hugely important to what we’re trying to achieve this season.” Post navigation Scotland’s Luke Crosbie Eager to Reclaim Back-Row Position After Injury ‘Rollercoaster’ Lisa Keightley, Former England Coach, Appointed Head Coach of Northern Superchargers
