Ruben Amorim appears to have adhered to any guidance from Manchester United regarding de-escalating an already sensitive situation. Amorim, known for his forthrightness, made realistic comments acknowledging Marcus Rashford as a significant talent, stating, “and we need big talents”. Nevertheless, the situation ultimately hinges on tangible actions rather than mere statements. Amorim has expressed his desire for Rashford to remain with the club, while simultaneously stressing that all players must adhere to his performance standards. He indicated that both Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho’s eligibility for selection will be determined by their displays during training sessions. It can therefore be reasonably concluded that should either player not achieve the requisite standard, they will not join the team for the Carabao Cup fixture against Tottenham in London, irrespective of whether Rashford has recovered from the illness that prevented his participation in Monday’s training. Following the match against Tottenham, Manchester United is scheduled to play Premier League fixtures against Bournemouth, Wolves, and Newcastle. Rashford’s position within Amorim’s strategic plans will soon become apparent. Nevertheless, if the 27-year-old does not meet the performance level expected by his new manager, he will not be selected to play.
