A knife amnesty container has been placed in a town centre as part of initiatives designed to reduce crime. This box is situated outside Kettering Swimming Pool in Northamptonshire. It marks the second such installation for the town, with another knife box already located outside the Salvation Army on Rockingham Road. The £500 undertaking, funded by Kettering Town Council with assistance from Northamptonshire Police and North Northamptonshire Council, aims to lessen the quantity of weapons found on the streets. Craig Skinner, the Mayor of Kettering, who was instrumental in initiating the project, characterized the effort as “an important step” toward enhancing safety within the area. He further commented: “People can drop these [knives] off anonymously and without fear of repercussion and know that they have done the right thing and potentially saved a life.“I would encourage anyone who is carrying a knife to think twice and use this bin – and encourage anyone they know to do the same,” he added.
