Passengers attempting to board flights from East Midlands Airport in 2024 had various items confiscated, including chainsaws, a lava lamp, and a bottle of urine. Security personnel at the Castle Donington facility reported seizing approximately 300 prohibited articles each month due to non-compliance with aviation regulations. Management at the Leicestershire-based airport stated that the vast majority of travelers, specifically 99.8%, experienced security wait times of no more than 15 minutes. However, the airport has advised individuals against carrying prohibited items, as this practice can lead to increased queuing times. Over the past year, additional confiscated articles have encompassed a bread knife, a Stanley knife, a gun-shaped brandy bottle, bullet casings, oars, a hockey stick, gym weights, a toolbox, car oil, a car battery, and anti-pigeon spikes. These items are all prohibited under the regulations established by the Civil Aviation Authority, with individual airlines occasionally imposing even more stringent guidelines for their flights. As the Christmas season approaches, the airport has also issued a reminder to passengers regarding the prohibition of items such as crackers, party poppers, fireworks, and even frozen turkeys on board flights. Jessica Hosier, the airport’s head of security, commented: “Customers have an important part to play in making their journey through the airport as smooth as possible, by planning ahead and checking what is and isn’t permissible in hand luggage.” Post navigation Cornwall Bus Fares Set to Increase Following National Cap Adjustment Durham Passport Office to Remain Closed Until January Due to Wind Damage and Safety Concerns
