Australian authorities have reported that an individual faces charges for the alleged attempt to import approximately 25 kilograms of methamphetamine into Australia, originating from Thailand. The 38-year-old, identified as a UK-Ireland dual citizen, was taken into custody at Sydney Airport upon his arrival by air on Monday. Officers from the Australian Border Force (ABF) conducted a search of the man’s luggage, including his suitcase and bag, where they reportedly discovered around 25 packages. Each package allegedly contained one kilogram of a white powder, which preliminary tests indicated was methamphetamine. Following this discovery, Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers proceeded to arrest and charge the individual with the importation of a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug. He made an appearance at the Downing Centre Local Court in Sydney on Tuesday, with his next court date scheduled for 8 January 2025.
