Presents that have been donated are scheduled for packing and distribution to older and susceptible islanders who might be spending the Christmas holiday by themselves. Individuals in Guernsey who receive assistance from adult community services are slated to receive these gift bags during the upcoming weekend, as part of a yearly tradition. Angie Harrison, who serves as the social care manager for adult community services, stated: “We know that some people we visit may not see anybody else on Christmas day.” “We make sure everybody gets a gift.” The charitable organization, Gifts for the Elderly and Vulnerable, solicits donations from the public, which are subsequently distributed. Ms Harrison mentioned that these presents would be a “big surprise” for some of the individuals receiving assistance. She specified that each gift bag includes articles such as toiletries, chocolates, calendars, magazines, slippers, and “cosy blankets”. “We sort them out to make sure they are correct for the people they are going to”, she said. “Everybody is treated the same, it’s just nice to see their faces when the staff give them their gifts.” Connect with BBC Guernsey on X and Facebook.
