Giuseppe Riso, the agent representing Sandro Tonali, has refuted reports originating from Italy that suggested the midfielder desired a return to Serie A. The 24-year-old Italy international joined Newcastle in a £58 million transfer from AC Milan, but his promising initial period was interrupted by a 10-month ban for gambling offenses. Since his comeback in late August, Tonali has gradually started to re-establish himself at St James’ Park, though he has experienced periods of being both in and out of the team. This situation has led to speculation from Italy that he might depart Newcastle during the upcoming January transfer window. However, a statement released by his agency to BBC Sport contradicts these assertions. The statement reads: “Sandro is not considering a return to Serie A. He’s happy at Newcastle, happy to play in the best league in the world and is an idol for Newcastle fans who’ve always supported him.”
