Police have cautioned a group that staged a protest concerning the alleged mistreatment of a dog, advising them “not to take matters into their own hands.” On Sunday, demonstrators gathered outside a residence in Whalley Range, Manchester, demanding the animal’s release due to concerns about its welfare. This demonstration occurred after images of a dog and claims of its poor living conditions were circulated across several local Facebook groups. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police reported that officers removed the dog from the property and found it to be “in a positive condition,” despite the allegations. The spokesman added that the force is investigating “wider issues” related to the protest and warned that “those found to be taking matters into their own hands or engaging in illegal behaviour can expect to be dealt with.” Videos from the protest showed the group chanting “bring the dog out,” holding placards, and honking car horns outside the suburban homes. The allegations of mistreatment were reported to both the police and the RSPCA, which conducted an investigation but took no further action. An RSPCA spokeswoman confirmed the charity was “aware” of the allegations but stated, “unfortunately we are unable to discuss complaints about specific people.” Footage of the protest displayed multiple police vans as officers removed the dog from the property, prompting cheers from the protesters. The police spokesman indicated that the dog, which appeared to be a German Shepherd, was transported to police kennels. He further urged, “We would urge residents to refrain from making speculative comments about the incident online as our work continues with the RSPCA and Manchester city council.” Post navigation Bradford Man Acquitted of Encouraging Teen’s Suicide Stricter Penalties for Murders by Jealous Ex-Partners Announced
