An incident involving a fire has occurred at the Royal Free Hospital premises in Hampstead. Approximately 60 firefighters are engaged in combating the blaze, which has affected the roof of a recreation building situated within the hospital grounds, according to the London Fire Brigade (LFB). The LFB further stated that eight fire engines were present at the location, and one of its 32m (105ft) ladders was utilized to combat the flames from an elevated position. The LFB also noted that the origin of the fire remained undetermined, but anticipated that local traffic would be “heavily impacted” while crews persisted in battling the blaze, which has since been brought under control. The LFB reported receiving the initial call regarding the fire at 11:15 GMT, with the situation being brought under control by 12:50. A London Ambulance Service spokesperson conveyed: “We were called at 11:32 GMT to reports of a fire in Fleet Road.”We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews and an incident response officer. The first of our crews arrived in six minutes.”Our crews assisted our emergency services partners at the scene, but were later stood down.” A spokesperson for Royal Free London expressed gratitude to the LFB for their prompt response to the incident.
