A complimentary fireworks event is scheduled to take place after an organized display in Birmingham experienced delays due to technical problems. Organizers at Kings Heath Cricket & Sports Club, where the event was held on Sunday, described the display as “very late and short” and issued an apology for the disruption. Attendees who had purchased tickets for entry expressed their dissatisfaction, with some labeling it a “massive financial waste” and others noting their children’s “disappointment.” The club will host a free event for those who purchased tickets this Friday, with public access beginning at 17:30 GMT. Tickets for the original Sunday event were priced at £8 per person in advance, £10 at the door, or £25 for a family of four. Following the club’s apology, numerous individuals voiced their frustration regarding the event’s quality on Facebook. One attendee mentioned having to view the display while walking home. Another commented: “Absolutely shocking evening, firework display way too late. “I should imagine so many disappointed people, young children with school or nursery tomorrow, had to leave early feeling tired and cold”A massive financial waste for many families.” The club attributed the issues to technical difficulties encountered by the contractors responsible for supplying the fireworks and apologized for failing to deliver its customary “spectacular show.” In a statement, the club said: “We understand how disappointing this was, and we’re actively reviewing what happened to ensure it doesn’t happen again. “A display that was presented, albeit very late and short, was certainly not the display that we are accustomed to here.”Please know that we value the time you shared with us, and we’re committed to making this right.” Conversely, some individuals responded to the post to express their understanding and support. One person wrote: “Completely understand that the technical difficulties was out of your control.”Despite this I didn’t let it spoil my evening and the fireworks were still great, definitely worth the wait.” The club confirmed that the fairground would not be operational on Friday, but the fireworks display is set to commence at 18:15.
