A “first of its kind” healthcare facility in West Sussex is anticipated to commence operations for patients within weeks. The Worthing Integrated Care Centre (WICC), constructed at the location of a previous car park on Stoke Abbott Road, received funding from the town’s borough council. In addition to providing general practitioner, pharmaceutical, dental, and mental health services from a central site, healthcare professionals will have the capability to perform certain minor surgical procedures. According to the council, this new facility will “transform healthcare in the heart of the borough”. The pharmaceutical services are scheduled to commence operations in early January, meanwhile, dental care, delivered by Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, is slated to relocate to this location by the conclusion of the following month. Additionally, Worthing Medical Group and mental health provisions are expected to transition to the new structure early in the upcoming year. An adjacent multi-level pay-and-display parking facility became accessible to the public on Wednesday. Rita Garner, the council’s cabinet member for regeneration, stated that the council is “determined that everyone in Worthing should be able to access good healthcare quickly and easily”, with “a wide range of NHS services under one roof”. Dr James Ramsey, chief medical officer at NHS Sussex, expressed enthusiasm for “providing more care closer to home for local people”. Sussex Health & Care also expressed approval for the new establishment: “When the WICC is fully operational, it will be the first centre of its kind in Sussex, providing a range of NHS services on one site and allowing the community to receive better healthcare.” Post navigation Royal Stoke University Hospital Prioritizes Reduction of Emergency Department Delays Families to Present Concerns of ‘Structural Racism’ in Patient Care at Inquiry
