The charges against a teenager, who had been accused of rioting earlier this year, have been dismissed. The 16-year-old individual, whose identity is protected by law due to their age, had been formally charged following the public disturbance that occurred in Tamworth on 4 August. The accusations against him included one count of violent disorder and one count of assault by beating an emergency worker. Widespread civil unrest erupted across the country in August, occurring in the aftermath of the fatal stabbing of three children in Southport. During the incident outside the Holiday Inn Express in Tamworth, a police officer sustained what was suspected to be a broken arm. Staffordshire Police characterized the attacks as “senseless violence,” further asserting that “despicable thuggery” was “completely inexcusable.” Follow BBC Stoke & Staffordshire on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X and Instagram.
