Former Coventry City goalkeeper Steve Ogrizovic has characterized the dismissal of manager Mark Robins as a “poor decision,” suggesting Robins should have been afforded more time. Ogrizovic, aged 67, who played over 500 matches for the Sky Blues and now serves as a pundit for BBC CWR, stated, “Very few things in football shock me but this is a poor decision.” He further commented on the decision, saying, “It’s not a knee-jerk decision because I think this is planned and (owner) Doug King has got a plan in the back of his mind, although what that is I don’t know.” Robins’ tenure concluded after Coventry’s 2-1 home defeat by Derby on Wednesday, a match that followed two consecutive Championship victories for the club. Ogrizovic emphasized Robins’ contributions, adding, “Mark Robins had more to give, look at the club since the day he came in and it’s been year-on-year success and progression.” He continued, highlighting the club’s resurgence: “The sun has been shining on Coventry and they got back into the Championship and along the way there were some great memories for people.” Ogrizovic also noted the significant change in stadium attendance, observing, “The stadium is full now and it wasn’t when Mark Robins first came to the club.” Post navigation Fury Attributes Rematch Loss to Usyk to ‘Christmas Gift’ from Judges 2025 Indian Premier League Squads Finalized Following Auction
