Watford midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been issued a three-match ban by the Football Association for violent misconduct. Sissoko had rejoined Watford in the summer on a free transfer from French club Nantes. The charge against Sissoko pertains to an incident that occurred in the 21st minute of Watford’s 1-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, October 26. An FA Spokesperson stated that referee Darren England did not observe the incident during the match, and therefore it could not be directly included in his subsequent match report. However, following a review of the alleged incident, which was captured on video, the former France international was found to have committed an alleged head-butt on Rovers captain Lewis Travis, who had alerted the referee at the time. The 35-year-old has received three red cards in his career, including two during his time with Newcastle United in the 2014-15 season. This suspension means Sissoko will miss Watford’s away fixture against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, their match at Swansea City on Tuesday, and their home game versus Oxford United next Friday.
