Northern Ireland defender Conor Bradley stated his team is “looking good for the future” in anticipation of next year’s World Cup qualifiers. This follows his fourth international goal, scored during Northern Ireland’s 2-2 draw against Luxembourg. Michael O’Neill’s squad secured promotion to League B of the Nations League after Monday’s 2-2 away draw with Luxembourg, which saw them finish at the top of Group C3. Bradley, who netted Northern Ireland’s second goal in that match, believes that winning the group after a positive campaign will foster confidence for a significant year in 2025. “We are a really young team but we’re looking good for the future,” he told BBC Sport NI. “Winning always helps, even drawing helps you learn. Hopefully we can keep going now, keep working hard and we’ll come back in March and do well.” Northern Ireland concluded their Nations League campaign with a record of three wins, two draws, and one defeat. The team needed only a point at Stade de Luxembourg to win Group C3 and appeared on course for an impressive away victory after establishing a 2-0 lead through Isaac Price and Bradley. However, Luxembourg equalized with two goals in three minutes, scored by Seid Korac and Gerson Rodrigues. Despite this, Northern Ireland held on to secure promotion. While expressing delight at topping the group, Bradley acknowledged that allowing a two-goal lead to slip would serve as a “massive learning curve” for the young squad. The Liverpool defender, who captained Northern Ireland in October’s Nations League games against Belarus and Bulgaria, commented, “I thought we probably should have won the game but it’s nice to top the group and get promotion to League B, so I’m really happy.” He added, “They aren’t a bad side and they play some really good football. I think we did well to hold our nerve and see out the game when it went to 2-2. I’m sure we will learn from it.” The draw to determine Northern Ireland’s World Cup qualifying opponents is scheduled for Friday, December 13, and Bradley believes his side is well-prepared to compete. He expressed anticipation, stating, “We’re looking forward to it, the World Cup qualifiers are starting so we’re really excited. We’re starting to gel as a team and we’re playing good football, so hopefully we can do well.” Post navigation Warne Outlines Strategy to Pressure Luton Early Cornish Pirates remove player contract exit clauses
