Maidenhead United striker Tobi Sho-Silva has expressed his anticipation for “testing his wits” against “better opposition” as his team prepares to host League One side Crawley Town in the FA Cup first round on Saturday. Crawley, a League One club, will journey to the National League team’s York Road stadium in Berkshire for the fixture, where they are widely regarded as the favourites. “Sometimes you want a smaller team but we get to test our wits against a higher quality opposition,” Sho-Silva told BBC South Today. “You’re always excited for this cup and it’s nice to get a bit of a break from the league too, we want to win and that never changes though.” “For a club like ours, what is on the line is big and it’s great for our profiles as well, we want to have the chance to be drawn against one of the bigger teams.” Maidenhead currently holds the 19th position in the National League, having accumulated 16 points from 16 matches played this season. The 29-year-old Sho-Silva has previously advanced to the first and second rounds of the FA Cup during a career that has featured stints at Charlton Athletic, Sutton United, and Carlisle United. “At the end of the day once the whistle blows it’s just 11 against 11, the same white lines on the pitch ands two goals, we’ll crack on with it,” he added. “Seeing the jeopardy of the FA cup has been really nice, you just never know where it can take you, I’m always excited and have a good feeling for the FA Cup.” Crawley currently occupies the 22nd spot in League One, with a record of three wins, one draw, and nine defeats.
