An individual described as a “highly dangerous” sexual offender has received a life sentence for raping a woman in a cemetery after pursuing her home. Adam Martin trailed the woman as she departed from Cleckheaton bus station, subsequently forcing her into the graveyard where he committed a “sustained and vicious attack,” according to West Yorkshire Police. Martin, aged 26 and without a fixed address, had previously admitted guilt to a total of 10 charges connected to the assault. These charges included two counts of rape, two counts of intentional strangulation, and one count of making threats to kill. During a sentencing hearing held at Leeds Crown Court on Friday, it was stipulated that Martin must complete a minimum custodial period of 13 years and nine months. Subsequent to the hearing, Detective Inspector Jodie Hayes issued a statement, asserting: “Adam Martin committed a shocking attack against a lone victim and we welcome his sentencing at court today.“He identified and followed his victim before committing a sustained and vicious attack. There is no doubt whatsoever he is a highly dangerous sexual offender who has acted in the most predatory way.“It is welcome that his guilty plea may have spared the victim the ordeal of a trial but, in truth, the weight of evidence against him was so substantial he had little choice but to enter this plea.” Post navigation Man receives jail term for stabbing two men at petrol station Man Arrested Following Bomb Threat at Farnborough College
