Ellis Coulson, 21, has been imprisoned after stabbing two men in the neck on a petrol station forecourt. He had previously admitted guilt for the assaults, which occurred on 3 November last year in St Thomas Road, South Wigston, Leicestershire. On Friday, Leicester Crown Court handed down a 14-year sentence to Coulson, with nine years to be served in custody. The judge additionally issued a hybrid order under the Mental Health Act, mandating hospital treatment for Coulson until he is considered suitable for transfer to prison. According to Leicestershire Police, on the day of the incident, Coulson removed a knife from his pocket and concealed it behind his back while conversing with his two victims outside the petrol station shop. Both victims survived the assault, having driven themselves to the hospital to receive treatment. Approximately two weeks subsequent to the event, Coulson surrendered to the police. Det Con Owen Bird commented that the assault “could have quite easily led to life-changing injuries or even the loss of life”. During the initial day of his trial, Coulson, who had previously faced charges of attempted murder, admitted guilt to possessing a bladed article in a public place and to two counts of wounding with intent. He also received sentencing for separate offenses, specifically burglary, criminal damage, and vehicle interference.
