The public has been extended an invitation to attend a traditional carol service alongside the island’s national politicians, an event that will be led by the Tynwald Choir. This annual gathering is scheduled to take place at the Cathedral Church of St Mary of the Isle, situated in the island’s capital, commencing at 13:10 GMT. Laurence Skelly MLC, the President of Tynwald, conveyed that he “would like to extend a very warm invitation to all members of the public and the local business community”. Organisers indicated that the occasion would be “a choral celebration of the festive season with a selection of well-known and less familiar pieces of music”. The service will feature performances by the Tynwald Choir, the Isle of Man Arts Council Community Choir, and a brass group. The arrangement of the service has been undertaken by Jonathan King, the Clerk of Tynwald. Mr Skelly remarked that the yearly service had “become a long-standing tradition” where members of the public could “join Tynwald members and staff along with government staff in a joyous occasion celebrating Christmas”. He further added that it also presented a “wonderful opportunity to hear a Christmas address from the new Bishop of Sodor and Man”, the Right Reverend Patricia Hillas.
