Coventry City has dismissed manager Mark Robins, a decision made two days prior to their scheduled match against Championship leaders Sunderland. This development follows the Sky Blues’ 2-1 defeat to Derby County on Wednesday night, which leaves them in 17th position in the Championship standings. Robins had taken on the role of Coventry manager for his second tenure in 2017, establishing himself as the longest-serving manager within the Championship. During his leadership, he successfully navigated the team from League Two to the second tier, achieving a play-off final appearance in 2023 and reaching the FA Cup semi-finals in the previous season. Before their recent loss to Derby County, Coventry had secured victories in their two preceding league fixtures, suggesting a potential return to form following a slow beginning to the current campaign. First-team coach Rhys Carr is set to take charge of the Sky Blues for their upcoming Saturday game, which will take place at the Stadium of Light.
