Harlequins winger Cassius Cleaves has signed a new contract with the London club. Cleaves has made two appearances in the Premiership for Harlequins. This follows recent contract extensions for Quins vice-captain Cadan Murley and scrum-half Will Porter, who renewed their deals at Twickenham Stoop last week. The 21-year-old Cleaves made his Premiership debut as a substitute during the opening day defeat against Sale Sharks, sustaining an injury in the subsequent match against Newcastle Falcons. In total, he has played nine times for Quins, and has also had loan spells with London Scottish and Worthing. Speaking to the club’s website, Cleaves stated: “I’ve been in the academy for nearly 10 years now – I’ve grown up here. There’s a great group of boys at the club and you can see the young blood coming through. The brand of rugby we play suits my game and how I want to play, so it was a no-brainer for me to continue my time here.” Harlequins has not disclosed the duration of the new contract. Quins are scheduled to play London rivals Saracens in the Premiership Rugby Cup on Saturday.
