A collision involving a van and a cyclist in a Derbyshire village has resulted in the cyclist sustaining “serious” injuries. Emergency responders were dispatched to Sandiacre at 08:50 GMT on Friday after a push bike and a van collided at the intersection of Station Road and Osmaston Street. Derbyshire Police reported that the cyclist, a male in his 20s, was transported to a hospital. The police force characterized his injuries as “serious, but not believed to be life-threatening”. They also confirmed: “His family are aware.” The affected roads were temporarily closed while emergency personnel operated at the scene, leading to bus route diversions. The junction was reopened to traffic by approximately 09:40.
