Jersey’s new government facility is scheduled to commence operations for the public on Monday. The building, situated on Union Street at the intersection with The Parade, will become accessible starting at 08:30 GMT. Consequently, the facilities at La Motte Street and Eagle House are slated for closure at a subsequent time. The States of Jersey has stated that the design of this new structure aims to be “as accessible as possible for islanders.” The statement further indicated that the Union Street location will incorporate amenities catering to individuals with visual or auditory impairments, those requiring mobility assistance, and families needing a space for changing and caring for children. Children’s Services are slated to relocate from Liberte House to this new site, whereas Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) will continue to operate from Liberte House. The government has communicated that: “Islanders can get help and advice on a range of services in the new building including pensions, income support, personal tax contributions, registration cards, housing advice, health benefits, parental benefits, long-term care, business licensing and support, student finance and planning and building control.” The inauguration on Monday aligns with the departmental rebranding of Customer and Local Services, which will now be known as Employment, Social Security and Housing. The Union Street facility will be accessible to customers between 8.30 and 17.00 GMT, from Monday through Friday.
