Robert Vilahamn, the manager of Tottenham, addressed the media ahead of Sunday’s Women’s Super League match versus West Ham, scheduled for a 14:00 GMT kick-off. The following are the principal points from his press conference: Shuang Wang, Amy James-Turner, and Hayley Raso have resumed training sessions; however, their fitness will be evaluated prior to the game following their recovery from injuries. Vilahamn stated that he is “not concerned” about Tottenham’s defensive performance, even though the team has allowed 11 goals in its last three fixtures. He indicated that the players are in a “good headspace” following an unsatisfactory beginning to the season and understand the necessary adjustments. He quoted, “I see what we need to fix and where we need to be better. We score a lot of goals which is good but we need to fix conceding goals. It’s not an easy fix but the players are aware of what we should do.” According to Vilahamn, the team requires “a mixture of the balance” between offensive play and defensive strength. He recalled his tenure managing BK Hacken, a period marked by significant success, but acknowledged that it would require time for Spurs to evolve into a “dominant” side. He further commented, “I know the fans have so much emotion so when you lose you should be quite hard on yourself, but also when you breathe a little bit, you need to understand that Manchester United and Chelsea away are two of the toughest games you can have in football. We are not there yet.” Vilahamn affirmed his perception of “really good potential” within the team, but noted that the club recognizes the importance of achieving “good results to please the fans,” identifying this as the immediate objective. He concluded, “I don’t want to keep talking about next year and next year. I want to make sure we get progress results-wise. We want to win. That’s the aim.”
