During their half-term school break, two siblings dedicated their time to locating and returning a stolen till belonging to a cafe. Upon learning that Snails Delicatessen in Cardiff had been burglarized three weeks prior, Armin and Layla opted to conduct a search of the vicinity. “I just like helping our community, I love our community spreading joy and helping around,” stated Armin, 13. Fran Sykes, 53, the cafe’s owner, expressed her gratitude to the duo on the social media platform Facebook, referring to them as local heroes. She further commented: “We gave them a reward of warm chocolate brownies, sprinkles and ice cream… they were delighted to have found it.” Armin and his sister Layla, 12, are frequently observed performing acts of kindness, including collecting litter in the park and tidying the streets. Layla explained that they commenced their search for the till around 09:00, initially focusing on Caedelyn park before extending their efforts throughout Rhiwbina. Their persistence was rewarded on Halloween, when they identified the till on the tracks at Rhiwbina railway station, which borders the park. The station was not operational and could not be accessed directly, so they sought assistance from railway personnel who aided in recovering the lost till. “We put the till back together in the park, and carried it in my jumper… to make sure there were no fingerprints on it,” Layla recounted. The till still contained £2 upon its discovery, which Fran divided equally between the two, providing them with £1 each. Regarding how Armin utilized his £1, he stated: “I gave it to the homeless.” Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved. The BBC disclaims responsibility for the content of external websites.
