Hibs captain Joe Newell maintains that the atmosphere at Easter Road is “not all doom and gloom,” notwithstanding the team’s difficult beginning to the season. David Gray’s squad currently sits at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table, having accumulated merely eight points from a potential 39. After the Edinburgh side’s 4-1 defeat to Dundee, Newell remarked, “We have had a very tough start to the season.” He then added, regarding the team’s collective effort, “Then we have a break and we work really hard and the group are very together and I can see it in the training ground.” Newell further highlighted the team’s resilience despite their results. “The environment, with the pressure and with the results we have had, it would be very easy to be all doom and gloom and it hasn’t, you saw that straight away with the way we started the game [against Dundee]. “Coming to a tough place against a tough side, full of confidence and we started really well.”
