Lincolnshire experienced disruption following overnight snowfall, which resulted in the closure of some schools and numerous reports of weather-related collisions. The Met Office had issued a yellow weather warning for “a spell of snow” across the region, valid from 19:00 GMT on Monday until 10:00 on Tuesday. Lincolnshire Police confirmed that its force control room recorded over 20 collision reports throughout the county. Public transport services also faced interruptions, with several bus routes experiencing cancellations or delays. Via a post on X, police advised individuals traveling to ensure their vehicles were cleared of snow and to adjust their driving to the prevailing conditions. Additionally, the snowy conditions prompted the closure of several schools, including Aegir Specialist Academy and Warren Wood Academy in Gainsborough, both citing heating problems. Sir William Robertson Academy in Welbourn, situated near Lincoln, also announced its closure. In a Facebook post, the school stated: “Many routes to the school are unsafe to travel this morning and our first priority has to be the safety of pupils and staff.” Furthermore, numerous bus services across the county were impacted. Stagecoach advised passengers to consult its social media pages for the most current updates. The cold weather is projected to continue through the remainder of the week, with frosty nights anticipated for the majority of this week and daytime temperatures ranging between 3-8C.
