Police have reported that a British tourist discovered in a hotel lift shaft in Turkey succumbed to injuries after falling from the first floor, having been “under the influence of alcohol”. The individual was identified as Tyler Kerry, 20, of Basildon, Essex, who was located a week prior at the Trendy Lara Hotel in Antalya. Mason Read, Mr. Kerry’s younger brother, had previously informed the BBC of his conviction that Mr. Kerry was murdered. Turkish police stated that, based on witness accounts, Mr. Kerry had been consuming alcohol at a nightclub prior to his fall from a height, and there was no indication of “intervention” on his body. His grandmother expressed being “disgusted” by this official statement. As part of the investigation, officers collected statements from hotel employees, and an autopsy was performed on Mr. Kerry’s remains. Police further reported that the initial autopsy confirmed “there was no intervention” to the exterior of Mr. Kerry’s body. The conclusive autopsy findings are anticipated within two months. Police indicated that the lift was not operational, and there was “no proof of firearm or sharp object injuries.” Collette Kerry, Mr. Kerry’s grandmother, declared herself “absolutely disgusted” with the police’s handling of the investigation and their response. The family stated they had not received direct communication from Turkish officials. Mr. Kerry had arrived in Turkey on November 27, accompanied by his girlfriend Molly, his grandparents, and other family members. In the early hours of November 29, while enjoying drinks at the hotel bar, Mr. Kerry, who had fallen asleep on a sofa, disappeared. During a frantic search, Mr. Read reported finding his brother, an office fitter, at the base of the lift shaft in the hotel’s basement. “My brother’s been killed, 100%,” Mr. Read previously asserted. He added, “I want to see justice for my boy.” He further expressed, “It’s killing me sitting here thinking of everything that could’ve happened to him.” “Me and the family, we can’t cope just living in the dark. We need to know now,” he concluded. The family had previously stated that he was discovered “flat on his face,” wearing only boxers and socks. A hotel spokesperson confirmed that staff were providing support to the family but could not offer additional comments due to the ongoing police investigation.
