Police have announced the arrest of three employees in connection with allegations of violence and deliberate neglect at a care facility located in Devon. Devon and Cornwall Police initiated a criminal investigation into operations at the Knappe Cross Care Centre, situated on Brixington Lane in Exmouth, after receiving reports expressing concerns about the welfare of its residents. Following this, three staff members were taken into custody; they have since been granted bail while the investigation proceeds. A police statement confirmed: “Robust safeguarding arrangements are now in place and the safety and ongoing care of residents remains the utmost priority.” The Knappe Cross facility, which commenced operations in 1987, has a capacity of 42 beds. Authorities indicated their close collaboration with Devon County Council Adult Safeguarding Services and the CQC to address any improper conduct and to implement future improvements. The police further stated: “The safety and ongoing care of the residents remains the utmost priority consideration for all of the professional agencies involved.”
