The organizer of an annual Christmas toy ride expressed being “totally overwhelmed” by the significant turnout of bikers for the charity event. Buster Spicer, a resident of Sandown on the Isle of Wight, guided a procession of 208 motorcycles through the streets of Newport on Sunday. The procession concluded at St Mary’s Hospital children ward, where the participants delivered presents contributed by island residents. Mr. Spicer noted that this year held particular significance, being “extra special,” as they also provided specially made toys to the Special Baby Care Unit. Having organized the Christmas toy ride for eight years, he stated that it welcomes riders of “all types of motorcycles,” including scooters, trikes, and “even the old lady on a moped.” “When I got there, I was totally overwhelmed by the amount of bikes that were gathering,” he recounted, specifying that a total of 208 bikes participated. A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight NHS Trust commented that the support from the bikers was “something we always look forward to.” The statement continued, “It is unfortunate for children and their families to be in hospital over the festive season, so being able to offer them a gift and seeing a smile on their faces really does make a difference.” Post navigation Reader Photos: Capturing the West Midlands’ Beauty Kent Family’s Festive Home Display Raises Funds for Charity
