Permission has been granted for the development of eight warehouses near Basingstoke. These warehouses are planned to be housed within six structures located at Oakdown Farm in Dummer, situated near junction 7 of the M3 motorway. Prior submissions by the developer Newlands for this project had been denied, with the most recent of these being rejected by the Planning Inspectorate following an appeal process. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council formally approved a revised planning application for the scheme on Wednesday. The most recent iteration of the plans incorporated revisions aimed at decreasing the height and overall dimensions of the warehouses. Newlands Developments stated that the project, which is anticipated to be constructed in stages, is projected to generate over 1,000 employment opportunities upon its completion. To accommodate the warehouses, three existing buildings, alongside several outbuildings, are scheduled for demolition. The location designated for the warehouses is situated next to a site that has been shortlisted for a prospective new hospital.
