An employee at a retail establishment sustained a stab wound when attempting to detain an individual who had taken a charity collection box. The South Yorkshire Police reported that this event occurred on Wednesday morning on Firth Park road in Sheffield. Katrina Dixon, aged 40 and without a permanent address, faces charges related to the incident, specifically wounding with intent, shoplifting, and carrying a sharp weapon in a public area. A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police stated that the injured party, a male in his twenties, was transported to a medical facility for serious injuries, which are not considered to be life-threatening or to cause permanent alteration. Ms. Dixon made an appearance at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, following which her legal proceedings were referred to Sheffield Crown Court for a session scheduled for 29 November. Law enforcement officials indicated that store personnel pursued and detained a suspect subsequent to a charity box being removed from the counter. During the course of this event, the male individual was stabbed, and a second employee sustained a bite wound to the hand. Authorities retrieved a craft knife from the location. Inspector Alec Gibbons commented: “Retail workers should not have to face threatening behaviour or violence in the workplace, and it’s incidents like this that show how retail crime is not victimless.” For further content, listeners can access highlights from South Yorkshire on BBC Sounds, view the latest installment of Look North, or submit a story they believe warrants coverage.
