A pedestrian has died in Nottingham following a hit-and-run incident. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that a man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a car on the A611 Hucknall Road in Carrington on Wednesday night. The driver involved in the collision failed to stop, the force added. Since then, three men, aged 21, 23, and 27, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Just before 11:00 GMT on Thursday, the police force reported that the road remained closed in both directions between Claremont Street and Alexandra Street while investigation work was ongoing. Sgt Mark Baker stated: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends following this tragic incident. This will have no doubt been incredibly distressing news for them to receive, so we are deploying specialist trained officers to offer them support at this difficult time. We are in the process of exploring several lines of inquiry, so would ask anyone who has information about what happened to come forward immediately.” Due to the road closure, Nottingham City Transport announced that its Brown 15, 16, and 17 bus services were diverting via Haydn Road and Sherwood Rise in both directions.
