BBC Sport presenter Mark Chapman conducted an exclusive Football Focus interview with Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim, during which the Portuguese manager explained his “very relaxed” disposition in his new position. Amorim stated, “I will be OK – no matter what,” elaborating, “In this stage of my life, I will be OK so that’s why I am relaxed.” He addressed common expectations about his new role, asserting, “Everybody says to me: ‘This will change me’. This will not change me.” The manager acknowledged potential difficulties, noting, “If something happens, I will be frustrated for a while but I know I will recover. But I believe that we are going to succeed.” He also discussed his preparedness for the role and the challenge of leaving his former players at Sporting. “I’m ready. When I had this invitation, I felt that it was really hard to leave my players at Sporting. But, when I had this opportunity, I felt I had to do this [and make the move].” Amorim concluded by suggesting, “Maybe it is destiny and I will be a little bit lucky in the beginning and then everything is going to be fine.” The complete interview with Ruben Amorim is available for viewing on Football Focus via iPlayer or for listening on the special Football Daily podcast on BBC Sounds.
