A sheep has been successfully retrieved after spending a week stranded on the ledge of a rocky outcrop. The Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was dispatched to the Langstrath Valley in the Lake District on Thursday, after a farmer from Borrowdale notified them of the sheep’s situation. The team established a rope rescue system, enabling them to descend to the animal. Despite having consumed all available vegetation, the animal reportedly offered some “feisty resistance” during the rescue, according to its rescuers. Ultimately, the team successfully secured the sheep in a harness and hoisted it to the top of the outcrop. Following its release, a team spokesman reported that it “trotted off to some greener pastures.”
