In their second fixture of the 2024 Global Super League (GSL) held in Guyana, Lahore Qalandars defeated Hampshire Hawks by a margin of four runs. Chasing a target of 136 for victory, the Hawks managed to score 131-8 within their allotted 20 overs, with Tabraiz Shamsi, a spinner for Qalandars, taking 3-21. Opener Tom Prest contributed 30 runs from 22 deliveries, but Hampshire’s score stood at 53-3 after 10 overs, which ultimately made their chase increasingly challenging as the required run-rate escalated. Earlier in the match, the Pakistan Super League team, Qalandars, had set a total of 135-5, largely due to Luke Wells’ crucial unbeaten knock of 35 runs from 24 balls towards the end of their innings. Following this result, both participating teams now hold a record of one win and one loss in the group stage of the five-team tournament. In this group phase, every team is scheduled to play against each other once, and the two leading teams will advance to the final, set for Friday, 6 December.
