A collective of DJs is set to commemorate a bus service connecting Glastonbury and Bristol by staging a performance aboard the vehicle. Four young musicians from Glastonbury have adopted the name 3SEVEN6, referencing the 376 bus service. Charlie Chamberlain, 26, Harley Kingham, 22, Hayden Salter, 24, and Josh Herridge, 28, are scheduled to perform on the bus during Glastonbury’s illuminated carnival. Mr. Chamberlain commented, “We have joked about DJing on the actual 376 for so long; we still can’t actually believe we have been given the opportunity to do that.” He has even had the numbers 376 tattooed across his stomach. He further stated, “There is such a massive local cult following for the 376 bus. It’s part of a lot of people’s lives when they want to go out.” He added, “Some of the best nights of my life have started on the back of the bus.” Regarding the performance, he noted, “Doing the whole [DJ] set on your own is horrible. You don’t get to socialise. It’s nice having the boys so we can go back to back so we can enjoy the party as well as host the party.” For the Glastonbury Carnival on Saturday, the bus will be equipped with a sound system, laser lights, and a smoke machine. Hayden Salter, another DJ in the group, remarked, “Gone to the carnival for 23 years, to see it from a different perspective going past all my mates and family is going to be special.” Mr. Kingham additionally described the bus route, which offers services running late into the evening, as “critical.” He elaborated, “It’s honestly the most important thing. There’s a massive party scene in Bristol and it’s the closest city to us.” Josh Herridge also shared his view: “A special bus. It’s a key route for us. We like partying, we like Bristol. It’s a key part of Somerset culture getting into Bristol.” A spokesperson for First Bus acknowledged a “serious side” to the upcoming performance. They stated, “Their story of using the 376 bus service to find freedom from the rural parts of Somerset to the bright lights of Bristol is really inspiring,” adding, “It shows the freedom that bus travel can offer, especially to those living in more isolated areas or with limited access to transport.” In addition to 3SEVEN6, local band Bad Cowboys, known for a song about the route, will also be performing on the bus.
