A police investigation into alleged corruption has led to the arrest of four employees from Leeds City Council’s planning department, according to information obtained by the BBC. In addition to these council employees, West Yorkshire Police also took into custody five other individuals in connection with their inquiry into suspected bribery. A spokesperson for the council stated that the arrested personnel have been suspended from their positions for the duration of the police investigation, and no additional comments could be provided. West Yorkshire Police confirmed that its Economic Crime Unit is carrying out a “complex investigation” and that all individuals taken into custody have been granted bail, awaiting further questioning.
