Mark Allen achieved three century breaks as he overcame a one-frame deficit to defeat Ryan Day 4-2 in the last-32 stage of the Scottish Open, held in Edinburgh on Wednesday. Allen initiated the match with a break of 104 in the first frame. However, Welshman Day responded with a 122 break in the subsequent frame to level the score, then proceeded to take a 2-1 lead. The high standard of play persisted into the fourth frame, where Allen’s break of 127 once again restored parity. The Northern Ireland player then asserted his dominance, securing victory with further runs of 78 and 103. The world number five will continue his bid for a second Scottish Open title, facing Jack Lisowski in the last 16. The English player secured his spot by beating Si Jiahui 4-0. Allen previously defeated Lisowski 6-3 in the recent quarter-finals of the UK Championship in York. Earlier on Wednesday, world champion Kyren Wilson was defeated 4-2 by Stephen Maguire, while Ding Junhui overcame Jackson Page 4-2, and Luca Brecel beat Zhou Yuelong 4-1. Ronnie O’Sullivan, Judd Trump, and Mark Williams all withdrew from the tournament.
