Manchester City forward Vivianne Miedema has recommenced training, and manager Gareth Taylor anticipates her return to the field in the new year. The forward has been absent from play since the Champions League triumph against Barcelona on October 9, having since undergone an operation on her left knee. “Viv is back out on pitch, which is great”, Taylor remarked. He further elaborated on her immediate availability: “The reality of it is we won’t see her in these next three games before we break, but we’re looking forward to getting her back in early January for when we restart.” Taylor underscored the positive impact of her return, adding: “That’s a big boost for everyone. She’s a top player and any team would miss having a player like that.” Taylor also mentioned Chloe Kelly, who sustained a concussion during England duty, is likely to make her comeback before the winter break. Nevertheless, her involvement in Thursday’s Women’s Champions League fixture against St Polten is considered “touch and go”.
