Former Australia batter Michael Klinger has been appointed as the head coach for the Manchester Originals’ women’s team for the 2025 season. Klinger, who played three T20 matches for Australia and spent seven seasons with Gloucestershire before his retirement in 2019, brings extensive coaching experience. His current and past coaching roles include serving as an assistant coach for Sydney Thunder in the Women’s Big Bash League, coaching Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League in India, and previous stints with the Melbourne Renegades in the men’s Big Bash League. Klinger’s agreement with the Originals is for a duration of one year. He will take over from Stephen Parry, a former Lancashire player, who held the position for two years. In the 2024 edition of The Hundred, the Originals’ women’s team concluded the season in sixth place; the tournament was ultimately won by London Spirit.
